About The Position

Marshall Healthcare Facility is a 64-bed skilled and long-term care facility located in Machias, Maine. We pride ourselves on having loyal and dedicated employees, with some staff members having worked here for over 25 years. Residents receive excellent care from our highly trained staff, with access to restorative nursing and therapy services. Our aim is to help individuals live as independently as possible, with dignity and respect, through professional care planning and engaging activities. As part of First Atlantic Healthcare, Marshall Health Care upholds a reputation for excellence in Long Term Care. We are Music & Memory certified and hold a 5-STAR facility rating. This role offers a unique every-weekend scheduling option for newly hired CNAs in the Nursing department on a limited basis. Employees must commit to this program for twenty-six (26) consecutive weekends (six months). During this period, the employee will be scheduled to work a minimum of three (3) twelve (12) hour or two (2) sixteen (16) hour shifts per weekend. The 'weekend' is defined as beginning on Friday at 6:30 am and ending on Monday evening at 7:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and on the Maine CNA Registry.
  • Able to work scheduled shifts, committing to being there for your team and Residents.
  • Must be able interact our computer-based Electronic Medical Record system.

Responsibilities

  • Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Maintain patient stability by checking vital signs.
  • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
  • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
  • Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
  • Enhances nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
