About The Position

Direct care of patients by assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility, while also monitoring vital signs, documenting care, and communicating changes in patient condition to the nursing staff. CNAs work under the supervision of nurses and are responsible for providing compassionate care and ensuring patient safety and comfort. This position is performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment, such as a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility. While the work setting is protected from outdoor weather conditions, it may be subject to variable indoor temperatures. The role involves frequent exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment, with the expectation that all staff follow appropriate safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The health care environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, requiring the ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances, including high-pressure or emergency situations. The work setting also involves multiple simultaneous demands and varying levels of noise due to medical equipment, staff activity, and patient needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • State of Oregon Certified Nursing Assistant License
  • BLS
  • None (for experience)
  • Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
  • Convey empathy and compassion to both patients and coworkers.
  • Report to primary nurse or shift charge nurse any changes in patient condition.
  • Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Communicate effectively and therapeutically with patients and their friends, family, and caregivers.
  • Able to provide a CNA level scope of care based on Oregon State Board of Nursing, age specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being.
  • Assist in duties as assigned by the Shift Charge such as processing admission, discharge, and shift audit documents.
  • Answering the phone calls to the unit.
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
