Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant from State of Employment

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of Nursing Assistant Program
  • Six (6) months previous CNA experience
  • Previous telemetry experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care under RN direction while continuously monitoring patients on telemetry, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Interpret and record ECG rhythms.
  • Report pertinent changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure accurate reports and error reconciliation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Perform direct patient care tasks.
  • Responsible for observation and documentation of patient’s cardiac rhythm: every shift, when an arrhythmia occurs, and on each new patient as they are placed on telemetry.
  • Recognizes and notifies RN immediately when life threatening arrhythmia occurs.
  • Promptly responds to all monitor alarms according to department/hospital policy.
  • Documents all communication to caregivers.
  • Ensures all patients on telemetry are connected to central monitor and alarms are appropriately set.
  • Accurately documents vital signs, input/output, nutritional intake, personal hygiene, weights, and other patient care performed and reports findings promptly to Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
  • Promptly answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
  • Reports patient status changes and needs to Registered Nurse accurately and in a timely manner.
