About The Position

As our CNA/Telemetry Tech/Nursing Unit Secretary, you will serve as a vital link in our clinical team, providing essential patient care and technical support under the direction of an RN. You will play a key role in ensuring unit efficiency by balancing direct patient assistance with specialized telemetry monitoring and administrative coordination in a high-demand hospital environment. Every day you will perform continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring, interpret ECG strips, and promptly report critical changes or arrhythmias to the nursing staff. Your responsibilities include providing patient comfort and hygiene, documenting vital signs and intake/output, managing unit clerical logs, maintaining telemetry equipment, and ensuring all patient information is accurately reconciled within our electronic records systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months previous CNA experience
  • Current state CNA license for applicable state of employment
  • Strong working knowledge of telemetry monitoring
  • Organized, detail-oriented professional who can thrive under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple clinical priorities
  • Clear communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program
  • Previous telemetry experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring, interpret ECG strips, and promptly report critical changes or arrhythmias to the nursing staff.
  • Provide patient comfort and hygiene.
  • Document vital signs and intake/output.
  • Manage unit clerical logs.
  • Maintain telemetry equipment.
  • Ensure all patient information is accurately reconciled within our electronic records systems.
  • Recognizes and notifies RN immediately when life-threatening arrhythmia occurs.
  • Responsible for observation and documentation of patient’s cardiac rhythm: every shift, when an arrhythmia occurs, and on each new patient as they are placed on telemetry.
  • Promptly responds to all monitor alarms according to department/hospital policy.
  • Provides quality patient care, including comfort and hygiene measures, preventative skin care, safety measures, transport, and nutritional and elimination needs.
  • Accurately documents vital signs, input/output, nutritional intake, personal hygiene, weights, and other patient care performed and reports findings promptly to Registered Nurse.
  • Promptly answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
  • Reports patient status changes and needs to Registered Nurse accurately and in a timely manner.
