About The Position

The CNA Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of direct resident care, ensuring all residents receive quality care and that all essential needs are met. This role involves the overall management of the certified nurse aide workforce, coordinating resident care, and ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of various care programs.

Requirements

  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs.

  • Must not be found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting.
  • Certified Nurse's Aide Certification required if not an LPN/LVN.
  • Minimum of active CNA Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse preferred.
  • Experience in Long-Term care setting preferred but not required.
  • Management Experience preferred.
  • Active LPN/LVN License (appropriate state) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the certified nurse aide workforce.
  • Coordinate resident care provided by CNAs, including documentation completion and accuracy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of hydration, restorative, and weight programs and implement new methods and best practices.
  • Train new hires and assign appropriate orientation training.
  • Maintain the CNA work schedule, assignment of duties, approving/denying requests off, documenting absences, tardiness, early quits, call-ins, shift swaps, and no-call/no-shows.
  • Oversee break schedules for CNAs.
  • Document in-service training, one-on-one counseling, and disciplinary action.
  • Document 12 hours of continued education/training for each CNA annually.
  • Complete competencies for each employee upon hire, annually, and as needed.
  • Complete employee evaluations in writing and provide regular verbal feedback.
  • Oversee the purchasing, stocking, and monitoring of supplies, being aware of budget expectations.
  • Evaluate equipment used by CNA staff for working order, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Report departmental needs to the Administrator.
  • Organize the cleaning of resident wheelchairs and walkers.
  • Promote resident rights, dignity, and independence.
  • Contribute to residents' care plans and implement them as directed.
  • Inform nurses of changes in resident status/condition.
  • Participate in Daily QA meetings, Monthly/Quarterly QA, Safety Committee Meetings, Resident Council Meetings when requested, Care Plan Meetings, in-service trainings, QAPI program, continuing education programs, and other meetings.
  • Assist during emergencies, especially with creating staffing teams.
  • Promote a positive, professional work environment.
  • May be required to be on the on-call nursing schedule and assist in floor nurse duties when needed (if a licensed nurse).
  • Act in ways that promote professional and positive representation of the facility to the community.
  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner using effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and documentation, and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Clock in and out for all working/training hours.
  • Maintain compliance with Legacy's Compliance program and plan.
  • Adhere to Legacy's Code of Conduct and Dress Code.
