About The Position

The CNA Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospice home health aide staff. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, retention, discipline, and scheduling of the home health aides in conjunction with the demands of the hospice program. The CNA Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the annual supervisory requirements for the home health aides have been met and competencies are completed and accurate. The position reports to the RN Clinical Coordinator(s) or designee and is an Exempt/Salary position.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing in the State of Nevada (preferred)
  • 1 year experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in hospice, home health, or geriatric care
  • Successful completion of a background check pursuant to NRS 449.188 and NRS 179A.100 along with a pre-employment drug screen and physical, TB testing, previous employment and reference checking, and an MVR (may include verification of education)
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to cope with emotionally charged situations encompassing patients, families, and other caregivers
  • Must be available for pre-scheduled, on-call hours, weekends, and holiday as needed
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and maintain current auto insurance
  • Must have CPR/BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Assists with hiring, training, and retention of CNA staff to meet the demands of the hospice agency
  • Ensures that new CNAs have and maintain proper credentials per state, federal and CHAP requirements
  • Meets all competency requirements as required by state, federal and CHAP guidelines
  • Schedules CNAs according to the individualized Plan of Care established by the RN Case Manager for each patient
  • May manage the supply inventory with oversight from the RN Clinical Coordinator(s); ordering & maintaining records of supply needs
  • Serves as the point of contact for patients and/or caregivers for CNA scheduling needs, concerns, and grievances
  • Arranges for precepting of new CNAs
  • Immediately reports any changes of staff to the RN Case Manager and RN Clinical Coordinator(s) or designee
  • Coordinates delivery of materials or supplies with patient supply companies to a schedule within business hours that is not disruptive to IDT meetings or other training
  • Educates CNA staff on the use and potential hazards of patient care supplies, when necessary
  • Generates miscellaneous patient reports when needed
  • Participates in Performance Improvement Activities as requested
  • Participates in QAPI Compliance goals for CNA documentation
  • Completes appropriate documentation in a legible and timely manner
  • Ensures CNA compliance with attending staff meetings and in-service training
  • Generates and delivers disciplinary write-ups to CNAs under the supervision of the Human Resources team
  • Stays current with all mandatory agency and regulatory requirements
  • Reviews timekeeping performed by CNAs, verifying it is done according to the timekeeping policies and procedures, and approves timecards for payroll processing
  • Approves CNA mileage and timecards for payroll processing
  • Assures all CNA visits are closed in a timely manner
  • Responsible for completing CNA performance evaluations (90 day & annual) with assistance from the RN Clinical Coordinator(s)
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrates effective time management skills by coordinating activities to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency, willingness to adjust or revise work schedules as requested
  • Assumes responsibility for on-going personal development and continuing education
  • Pursues professional networking opportunities to stay current in the fields of social work and hospice
  • Completes assigned projects within specified time frames
  • Maintains attendance in accordance with company standards
  • May make patient visits on special occasions or as deemed necessary to provide uninterrupted patient care
  • Assists with supervision and guidance of student interns as directed
