This position serves as a Relief Unit Secretary/ Restorative Aide and is an auxiliary worker of the nursing team who performs clerical duties on the nursing unit and assist in resident care as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility. The role involves answering the telephone, making appointments, relaying messages, and answering call lights courteously and in a timely manner. Responsibilities include filing medical records, maintaining forms for nurse's use, preparing and monitoring consults, preparing charts for doctor's visits, keeping the nurses' station orderly, ordering supplies, and managing the resident lab calendar. The position also requires interaction with families and visitors, performing monthly chart audits, entering monthly weights into the computer, and staying current with State and Federal regulations pertinent to Medical Records. Additionally, the role may involve direct resident care, including transporting residents to appointments, providing ADL care, and ensuring resident safety. The CNA/Relief Unit Secretary may be assigned to any unit based on staffing needs and may be required to assist in emergency declarations. This role works every other weekend as direct resident care and may participate in planning and implementing rehab care.
