About The Position

Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring their health and behavior, and ensuring their safety and comfort. The CNA will also be responsible for accurate documentation and communication with the nursing team.

Requirements

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
  • Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, prospects, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
  • Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
  • Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
  • Moving, lifting or transferring of residents may involve lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry patients.
  • Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit and reach.
  • Fine motor skills.
  • Executes tasks independently.
  • Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively verbally.
  • Ability to concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions.
  • Visual acuity.
  • Hearing alertness.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical support to assist residents to perform daily living activities, such as lifting, transfers, assisting with bed mobility, bathing, dressing, toileting, standing, walking, exercising, serving and assisting with meals, and taking vital signs.
  • Observe and document the health, behavior, physical and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the nurse.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to resident call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine residents' needs.
  • Promote personal safety and the safety of residents by maintaining a clean and safe environment, observing infection control practices, following facility guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the nurse.
  • Communicate with nurses on resident conditions, changes, and concerns.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provide companionship, comfort, and support to residents.
  • Meet federal and state in-service requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
