The CNA Nursing Assistant will assist the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and activity orders. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The assistant will perform purposeful rounding, assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensure patient call lights are always within reach and answered promptly. Responsibilities also include collecting specimens, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Nutritional support and skin integrity maintenance are key aspects of the role. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is mandatory. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
