About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking Nursing Assistants to work within the PES - Psychiatric Emergency Services unit in Omaha, NE. This unique unit's primary focus is to help individuals experiencing a mental health crisis/emergency. The role is part-time with varied days, primarily a 7 am - 7:30 pm shift, and requires working weekends and rotating holidays. The position is benefits-eligible and offers a CNA Sponsorship Program.

Requirements

• Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
• Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA).
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
• Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
• High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
• Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).
• Based on department need, Medication Aide certification and completion of an Injectables course may be required after hire in outpatient settings.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient's plan of care.
