This position assists the RN with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. The role involves measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Responsibilities also include collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additionally, the CNA will assist with maintaining skin integrity, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and perform bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile/aseptic procedures, is crucial. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
