The CNA Nursing Assistant - ICU role is a part-time position within the Critical Care: ICU 2nd Floor department. The successful candidate will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This includes providing direct patient care such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with activity orders and ambulation. The role also involves accurately measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA will perform purposeful rounding, communicate patient needs to the RN, and assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Maintaining patient safety by ensuring call lights are within reach and answering them promptly is crucial. The position requires specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and maintaining competency. Additionally, the CNA will assist with errands, stock nursing areas, clean equipment, and perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which may involve lifting and pushing/pulling. Responsibilities also include assisting with nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity. Under RN direction, the CNA may perform tasks such as removing IVs, providing post mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic techniques, is mandatory. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
