The CNA Nursing Assistant I on the Step Down Unit assists Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients. This role involves direct patient care activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with activity orders and ambulation. The position also includes measuring and documenting vital signs and patient intake/output, performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. The Nursing Assistant is responsible for specimen collection, maintaining nursing supplies, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additionally, they assist with maintaining skin integrity, may perform tasks like IV removal or bladder scans under RN direction, and must adhere to infection prevention policies. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
