About The Position

The Heart & Vascular Unit (7HVU) is a 49 private bed unit. It is considered a specialty medical/surgical unit that is fast paced and will provide growth in professional knowledge and expertise in the care delivery of our cardiovascular patients. The staff will care for specialty patients such as stable heart and lung transplants and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs). The Cardiac Vascular Unit is a sister unit to the Cardiac Care Unit. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care. Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
  • Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required (for CNA and Nursing Assistant).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later) (for CNA).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon completion of unit orientation required (for Nursing Assistant).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred (for CNA and Nursing Assistant).
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred (for CNA and Nursing Assistant).
  • Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).

Responsibilities
