About The Position

The CNA/Mental Health Aide performs personal care services by completing patient care assignments, providing an atmosphere conducive to treatment, and supporting patients with mental health and chemical dependency issues in an effort to meet the patients' needs. Multiple positions are available with the option of part-time or full-time employment. Shift differential includes $2.00 pm and noc, $1.50 weekend, $1.00 Geriatric units, $2.00 Adolscent units.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and chemical dependency
  • Knowledge of patient safety procedures
  • Knowledge of patient rights and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of CPR and first aid
  • Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Techniques
  • Ability to accurately observe, recognize, report, and record physical symptoms and significant behavioral characteristics of patients
  • Ability to carry out individual program plans for treatment of patients
  • Ability to relate to and work constructively with patients
  • Ability to detect significant or unusual patient behavior
  • Ability to verbalize the needs of patients
  • Ability to provide personal care services to patients
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures
  • Ability to listen and be empathetic with patients
  • Ability to assist in lifting and transferring of patients
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to work with patients displaying aggressive behavior
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely

  • Completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (C.N.A.) certification is required for the Geriatric program.
