This part-time position in Women's Health and OB Services at Aurora West Allis Medical Center requires a rotating weekend and holiday commitment. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with direct patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), participating in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensuring patient call lights are answered promptly. The position requires performing purposeful rounding, patient positioning, and transporting, as well as assisting with nutritional needs and skin integrity. Additionally, the role involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, and potentially removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans under RN direction. Infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene and knowledge of aseptic procedures, are essential. The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) functions include coordinating tests and treatments, maintaining knowledge of diagnostic and treatment departments, and utilizing EHR and other computer systems for ordering supplies. The role also involves processing daily patient charges, facilitating communication via telephone and paging systems, monitoring office equipment, and compiling chart forms. Verifying medical record accuracy and establishing positive customer relations are key aspects of the position. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
