This position assists the RN with the daily care of patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Responsibilities include patient hygiene, feeding, ambulation, monitoring vital signs, and documenting care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The role also involves participating in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient safety by keeping call lights within reach and responding promptly. The CNA/HUC performs purposeful rounding, communicates patient needs to the RN, and assists with patient positioning and transportation, which may involve lifting and pushing/pulling. Additionally, the role supports patient nutritional needs, maintains skin integrity, collects specimens for testing, and may perform tasks such as removing IVs or bladder scans under RN direction. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies, coordination of tests and treatments with other departments, and maintaining knowledge of the EHR system for ordering supplies and processing charges. Effective communication via telephone and hospital systems is essential, as is troubleshooting office equipment. The role also involves compiling chart forms, obtaining medical records for transfers, and verifying patient information. Establishing positive customer relations and fostering a harmonious work environment are key aspects of this role. The incumbent must demonstrate age-specific knowledge and skills to provide appropriate patient care.
