This is a full-time night position in the Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) Hospital Float Pool Unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including basic care, monitoring vital signs, documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and performing various patient support tasks. The position requires flexibility to float between units as needed and involves direct patient care, specimen collection, and maintaining the nursing area. The Float Pool CNA/Healthcare Tech will be responsible for assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient safety by keeping call lights within reach and responding promptly. They will also collect specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and complete errands within the hospital. Maintaining patient skin integrity and assisting with nutritional needs are also key responsibilities. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks like IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans may be performed. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic techniques, is crucial. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care based on patient assessment and understanding of growth and development principles.
