About The Position

The Colorado Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC) at Fitzsimons is a 180-bed skilled nursing facility serving Colorado’s veterans. We provide long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, and have a secured memory care neighborhood. This position is open to current Colorado residents only and may be used to fill multiple vacancies, including both part-time and full-time positions. The role requires working at the assigned work location during scheduled work times, with arrangements subject to change. As a CNA (Client Care Aide II), you will provide basic hands-on patient/resident care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, skin care, range of motion, positioning, ambulating, transferring, toileting, feeding, and transporting. You will also perform basic assessments like vital signs, blood pressures, and weights, and chart/document all care provided. This is a fully operational position responsible for performing the full range of client care aide tasks and problem-solving.

Requirements

Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Must hold and maintain a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
One (1) year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
Must complete and pass a tuberculosis (TB) test.
Must be willing to obtain vaccinations, as required by the State and facility.
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility/transferring.
Perform and record basic clinical tasks such as vital signs, weights, and intake/output measurements.
Document daily care, observations, and clinical data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and participate in shift-to-shift reporting.
Utilize universal precautions, proper lifting techniques, and safety equipment (e.g., transfer belts and lifts) to maintain a secure environment.
Guide and encourage residents in self-care activities and engage them socially to enhance their overall well-being.
Explain care steps to residents before and during interactions, and promptly answer call lights.
Work with the interdisciplinary team to recommend adjustments to routines, schedules, and dietary needs.
Act as a guide and mentor to newly hired Client Care Aides during their orientation and training period.
Attend mandatory training, online courses, and staff meetings to stay compliant with state laws, VA regulations, and facility policies.
