About The Position

We are establishing a Care Assistant (Certified Nursing Assistant – CNA) Pool for Charlotte County, Florida to support patient care operations across healthcare settings as staffing needs arise. This is a temporary, as-needed position. Selected candidates will be placed into an on-call Care Assistant Pool and scheduled only when patient care coverage is needed within Charlotte County. Applicants need not reside directly within Charlotte County but must be available to commute to assigned facilities within the county as scheduled. Care Assistants provide direct, hands-on patient care and basic clinical support services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician. Assignments may vary in duration depending on staffing demands and patient census. This role requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in dynamic healthcare environments.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in good standing in Florida (required).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or equivalent).
  • Ability to work effectively in structured, team-based healthcare environments.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform patient handling tasks.
  • Strong observation and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to be placed on call within the Care Assistant Pool and accept assignments based on operational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 6 months of clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospital, long-term care, assisted living, or home care settings.
  • Experience working in fast-paced or higher-acuity environments

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Support patient mobility by assisting with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
  • Take and record vital signs, weight, and other objective data accurately and promptly.
  • Identify and report changes in patient condition or behavior to supervising clinical staff.
  • Support patient comfort, hygiene, and safety throughout the shift.
  • Assist in basic clinical procedures as delegated, including collecting specimens and applying non-sterile dressings.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, including sanitizing equipment and changing bed linens.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, safety protocols, and facility policies.
  • Support continuity of care through timely and accurate documentation.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervising RN, Physician, and interdisciplinary care team.
  • Uphold patient dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational standards.
