Located in Columbus, Nebraska, Brookestone Acres is designed for seniors needing either short-term rehabilitation or skilled nursing services. This vital position plays a big role in our day-to-day operations by providing Quality Life for each and every resident. CNA/MA's must have the ability to read and write well enough to follow written directions and to do charting. It is important to read well enough to understand the dangers that come with working with the chemicals, equipment and supplies in the nursing department. Verbal communication skills are important to carry on conversations with residents, co-workers and visitors in an understandable manner. Nursing Aides will have passed the temporary nursing assistance course. Nursing Aides are continually learning and growing by participating in educational sessions, inservice training and demonstrations. CNA/MA's must understand the physical nature of their jobs and realize they need to: Lift, push, pull and move residents, equipment, supplies, etc. Lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds several times each workday. Lift twenty-five (25) pounds consistently. Be able to move and stretch in such a way as to be able to reach areas above their head and below their waist. Be able to push and pull a cart requiring twenty-five (25) pounds of force. Bend, stoop and twist almost constantly throughout the day. See and hear well enough to take blood pressure, chart, read thermometers, etc. Remain active and on their feet for up to four (4) hours at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident centered personal care including bathroom assistance, washing, dressing, obtaining vital signs, and social support
  • Assist resident in transferring, repositioning and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
  • Deliver a positive dining experience and assist residents with meals, snacks and supplement
  • Document resident care and behaviors
  • Hand and dispose of linens, soiled clothing or supplies properly
