This is a full-time position for a CNA/Certified Nursing Assistant on the MedSurg3 unit, specifically the 3rd Floor Medical and Surgical unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The CNA will ensure patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly, collect specimens, and perform point-of-care testing. Additionally, the role involves completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling. Tasks related to nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and providing special patient supplies are also included. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, duties may extend to removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
