This is a part-time, casual position for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Nursing Float Pool. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work 24 hours within a 6-week window, including every 3rd weekend and 1-2 holidays per year. The CNA will assist RNs with daily patient care, monitor vital signs, document patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), perform purposeful rounding, and participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Responsibilities also include specimen collection, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, patient positioning and transporting, assisting with nutritional needs and skin integrity, and ensuring special patient supplies are provided. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include IV removal, post mortem care, and bladder scans. The role emphasizes practicing within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
