The Day Habilitation Staff / CNA is responsible for providing direct care, supervision, and individualized support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a Day Habilitation setting. This position promotes independence, community integration, personal growth, and overall well-being while ensuring a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment. The CNA component includes assisting with personal care and daily activities.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Texas (preferred or required, depending on position).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (if transporting individuals).
  • Ability to pass required background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Texas (preferred or required, depending on position).
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, person-centered care to individuals receiving Day Habilitation services.
  • Assist individuals in achieving goals identified in their Individual Plan of Care (IPC/IPP).
  • Encourage participation in daily activities, social interactions, recreational programs, and community outings.
  • Promote independence by teaching and reinforcing daily living and self-help skills.
  • Support individuals in making choices while respecting their rights, dignity, and preferences.
  • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, oral hygiene, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Assist with transfers, ambulation, mobility devices, and positioning while following proper body mechanics.
  • Maintain individuals’ comfort, cleanliness, and overall hygiene throughout the day.
  • Assist in implementing educational, vocational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
  • Facilitate community inclusion activities while ensuring participant safety.
  • Encourage communication, positive behaviors, and healthy social relationships.
  • Support individuals during meals and snacks while monitoring dietary restrictions and choking precautions when applicable.
