Requirements

  • Certification within the State of Delaware as a Nurse Aide or completion of a 75-hour training course and required competency testing.
  • Nursing students completing one academic year inclusive of direct patient care will be considered if certification requirements are fulfilled.
  • Sympathetic attitude toward the care of the dying patient.
  • Demonstrated maturity to handle the demands of the job effectively.
  • Dependable transportation to patient's homes, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driver’s record.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to lift and turn patients as needed, adhering to industry standards and guidelines for safety and correct ergonomic practices.
  • Comfort working in an environment where blood, body tissue, and fluids exposure may occur regularly, following all healthcare industry safety guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in a hospital, extended care facility, home care, or hospice setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care and services within the scope of CNA certification, adhering to established policies and procedures to ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Offer personal care and light household services in patients' homes.
  • Care for the patient and share expertise with family members and primary caregivers, demonstrating essential personal care techniques under the guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Contribute significantly to the overall well-being of patients and ensure that the journey toward the end of life is marked by dignity, comfort, and compassionate support.
