This is a part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position on the Cardiac Med-Surg Unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include monitoring vital signs, documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The CNA will ensure patient call lights are within reach and promptly answered, collect specimens, and perform point-of-care testing. Additionally, the role involves completing various errands, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment and work areas, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Nutritional support and skin integrity maintenance are also key aspects of the role. Depending on unit requirements and RN direction, tasks may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile/aseptic procedures, is crucial. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
