About The Position

Certerra has an immediate opening for a full-time Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Inspector in Phoenix/Tempe, AZ. This position is best suited for someone interested in working in a fast-paced consultant environment, who does not mind some travel, and is capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative team. Certerra is a consulting firm focused on building a highly skilled, collaborative team to provide innovative geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering services. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in the engineering field as part of a team that values collaboration and initiative, with opportunities for growth and leadership within the Certerra/Insight Group family. Salary is commensurate with experience and is a combination of pay rate, benefits, and bonuses. Training will be provided to gain certifications in Gauge, ACI (several opportunities), and ATTI.

Requirements

  • Educational or professional background in construction inspection services
  • Experience evaluating soils, concrete, and asphalt, as they relate to site construction
  • Report writing and computer skills are required
  • Ability to lift 40-50 pounds
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in airfield pavement construction
  • Experience in landfill construction quality control/assurance
  • ACI Certifications

Responsibilities

  • Apply testing and inspection capabilities to a variety of projects
  • Evaluate soils, concrete, and asphalt, as they relate to site construction
  • Field and laboratory testing of construction materials
  • Maintaining required certifications
  • Coordinating with clients and Certerra/Insight Group engineering and professional state
  • Travel to client facilities as needed
  • Report writing and computer skills
  • Provides clear documentation of findings and results
  • Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager
  • Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM
  • Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks
  • Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration
  • Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
