About The Position

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician to join our growing team in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you'll perform construction materials testing, special inspections, and field observation services on a variety of commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, transportation, and infrastructure projects throughout the Tampa Bay region. As a CMT Engineering Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of construction projects by performing field testing, inspections, documentation, and quality assurance services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, construction inspection, geotechnical testing, or related field services.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Level I
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and testing requirements.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic field reports.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, grout, mortar, and reinforcing steel in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, FDOT, and project specifications.
  • Conduct construction materials testing and inspection services on commercial, transportation, infrastructure, educational, healthcare, and industrial projects.
  • Observe construction activities and collect field data on active construction sites.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and testing requirements prior to field assignments.
  • Document testing results, observations, and site conditions using electronic reporting platforms such as Metafield.
  • Communicate testing and inspection results with NOVA project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Identify and document construction deficiencies, quality concerns, and non-compliant conditions.
  • Perform testing and inspection activities in accordance with applicable FDOT, ASTM, ACI, and project requirements.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and care for testing equipment in accordance with industry standards.
  • Safely work on commercial, transportation, and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Tampa Bay area.
