About The Position

CMM Quality Engineer Purpose: To support internal and customer quality by continually improving processes, reducing poor quality, and being the liaison for technical quality requirements with customers and suppliers. Additionally, ensure the quality, accuracy, and integrity of product verification programs utilized in manufacturing and processing customer parts. Reports To: Quality Manager Exemption Classification: Exempt Special Work Conditions and Americans with Disabilities Requirements: Lifting up to 50 lbs without assistance and over 50 lbs with assistance Regular exposure to harsh conditions (including machine noise and metal dust) Ability to stand, bend, stretch, crouch, and stretch for prolonged periods Minimum Eligibility Requirements (Skills): Ability to work with others to promote teamwork, quality, craftsmanship, and productivity Must be self-directed and motivated Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to organize, problem solve, and lead projects Information gathering: knowing how to find and identify essential information Proficiency in using CMM programs for acceptance of 4 and 5-axis machined parts Understanding and interpreting drawings, customer specifications, and requirements Experience with the use of inspection equipment such as height gauges, bore gages, optical comparators, etc. Essential Job Functions: Develops and revises required documentation for ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality system compliance Maintains nonconformance, corrective action, and internal auditing systems Investigates and provides solutions to management related to customer complaints Conducts product, system, and process audits Utilizes statistical analysis tools to evaluate processes Provides recommendations for process changes or improvements based on evaluations Works with management on continuous improvement projects Reviews customer contracts for compliance to quality requirements Reviews first article inspection reports for accuracy and completeness Assists with quality audits, including internal, customer, ISO, and supplier audits Performs mechanical inspection on parts/assemblies using standard inspection setups, such as bore gages, height gages, micrometers, etc. Reports clear and concise inspection results to manufacturing to assist in the processing of quality products Assists in the maintenance of quality control systems for the acceptance of customer parts Participates in new product development meetings to ensure program compliance with quality requirements Maintains compliance with industry standards and regulations Duties and Responsibilities: Document inspection results in the form of AS9102 First Article Inspection reports Maintain detailed records of programs and inspection results Assist with both in-process and post-process inspections Perform mechanical inspections on parts/assemblies, documenting results in inspection reports Report clear and concise inspection results to manufacturing to ensure compliance with product specifications and quality standards Assist in pre-audit preparation and corrective actions for ISO or other audits Operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming for the acceptance of machined parts, including 4 and 5-axis parts Typical Job Requirements: Proficient in CMM programming, operation, and interpretation of inspection results Ability to program and operate a CMM in a 3D working environment where strict GD&T standards are required Strong understanding of customer specifications and the ability to interpret them into machine programs Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing documents Ability to operate inspection equipment such as height gauges, hardness testers, bore gauges, and optical comparators Knowledge of dimensional metrology and proficiency in operating CMM machines Familiarity with dimensional inspection methods and troubleshooting errors from inaccurate measurements Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, team members, and supervisors Education & Experience: Five years minimum experience in the quality field Three years of aerospace quality experience preferred Bachelor's Degree in engineering science or related degree (Other combinations of experience and education may be considered) ASQ certification preferred Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, and Nadcap standards is highly desirable Experience with CMM programming software such as Catia, Enovia, or other similar platforms is preferred Safety Functions: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment Work with and adhere to safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Report safety concerns and violations to management and ensure the safety of all workers We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
