Who is Zenix Aerospace Ketema? Zenix Aerospace Jet Products uses its own near net shape starting blanks with sizes ranging from 2″ to 180″ diameter. Applications include turbine engine parts, nacelle mounting and attach rings, and duct fittings. Produces complex machined rings and ring components in titanium, nickel, cobalt, stainless and aluminum alloys. Major markets for current production are airframe structural rings and assemblies, including the nacelle and thrust reverser, and a variety of rings and cases for turbine engines. What Does the Job Involve? The CMM Operator is responsible for operation of the Coordinate Measuring Machine to inspect close tolerance machined parts, part assemblies and tooling. Assists with first article lay outs, inspection procedures and assists in Manual Dimensional Inspection within the department as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Compile statistics.
  • Input data into computer programs.
  • Maintain filing systems.
  • Maintain logs.
  • Education: Technical degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of manufacturing related experience.
  • Familiar with ANSI / ASME 14.5 GD&T Standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Calypso or PC-DMIS software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrates CMM and Load parts / fixtures on CMM and start up the programs, aligns parts to program for production.
  • Performs periodic machine verification, saves CMM program/reports to database and furnishes data to engineering.
  • Inspects and documents, as applicable, the dimensional criteria and cosmetic conformance of a variety of precision mechanical parts, subassemblies, and assemblies ranging from average to major complexity (may include sheet metal components).
  • Recalls tooling for periodic checks to determine that tooling is still performing as required.
  • Maintains tool drawing and history files on all active tooling.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Lays out first run and production parts from blueprints, marking all location points and reference lines necessary to check tooling.
  • Plans inspection procedures including layout, set up, and mathematical computations required for all types of tooling.
  • Performs dimensional and visual in‑process inspections of items during manufacturing.
  • May perform duties under the FAA Repair station requirements.
  • Performs first article, floor, and final inspection of multiple operations or completed parts
  • Inspects electronic assemblies, subassemblies, hardware and parts for compliance with specifications following blueprints, drawings, production and inspection manuals, and government and/or customer requirements.
  • Inspects and documents such toolings as jigs, fixtures, dies, patterns, templates, and other special and general purpose tools involving closely coordinated location points, interrelated dimensions in more than one plane, compound angles, and irregular contours.
  • Uses standard inspection equipment, specialty measuring devices, and fixtures.
  • Coordinates with shop personnel while working with the CMM part program.
  • May assist, as required, in "root cause" analysis, statistical analysis and engineering.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area, ensures proper handling of tools, and maintains equipment and stock to prevent loss.
