About The Position

The CMM Operator will be responsible for ensuring product quality through precise measurements and inspections. This role involves operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other measurement equipment, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and contributing to process improvements. The operator will work from drawings, models, charts, or specifications, using measurement instruments to check and verify work. They will perform CMM best practices, surface plate layout, and operate Vision/Touch and Scanning Probe systems. A key aspect of the role is interpreting blueprints and specifications related to geometric tolerancing, gauging, statistical requirements, control plans, and customer/internal requirements. The position also requires a willingness to learn new technologies, assist with corrective and preventative actions, meet productivity goals, maintain accurate part counts, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The operator will contribute to a safe and productive work environment through good housekeeping and by suggesting and supporting ideas for improvement in safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery. Regular attendance, punctuality, and willingness to work overtime are expected. The role also involves performing lean processes and other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Work from drawings, models, charts, or specifications, use measurement instruments to check and verify own work and work of others as required.
  • Perform CMM best practices with both machine operation and quality inspection methods.
  • Perform surface plate layout and inspection using conventional measurement equipment as required for production or operational needs.
  • Operate and run Vision/Touch and Scanning Probe systems.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications related to geometric tolerancing, gauging, statistical requirements, control plans and other customer/internal requirements.
  • Assist with corrective and preventative actions as required.
  • Consistently meet or exceed productivity and assist in maintaining excellent product quality.
  • Keep accurate counts on parts to ensure quantities match the job traveler and ERP system.
  • Read, comprehend, and perform duties as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
  • Continually suggest and support implementation of ideas to improve safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
  • Perform and practice lean process and all other duties as assigned.
