About The Position

Pratt & Whitney's Bridgeport, WV Engine Center is seeking a CMM Inspector to perform precision dimensional inspection on aircraft engine components undergoing overhaul and repair. In this role, you'll use Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), PC-DMIS and a variety of precision measurement equipment to evaluate critical dimensions, fits and clearances and determine component conformance and serviceability. This is an opportunity to apply your inspection and metrology skills in a highly regulated aerospace environment where precision matters. You'll work with complex engineering drawings, technical specifications and GD&T requirements while partnering with Engineering and Quality to evaluate challenging component configurations. This role will train on 1st shift and will ultimately support our 2nd shift (which runs from 3:30PM – 1:30AM Monday-Thursday). Pratt & Whitney Canada’s site in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as a pre-employment contingency and also subject to ongoing random testing as an employee per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of experience in dimensional inspection, CMM operation, precision measurement, machining, or a related manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
Ability to use precision measurement equipment.

Nice To Haves

CMM programming or editing experience using PCDMIS software
Experience with CMMs, precision measurement equipment, machining, or aerospace/engine component inspection
Working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret dimensional tolerances on engineering drawings.
Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
Experience in aerospace, aviation, precision machining or another close-tolerance manufacturing environment.
Associates degree in a STEM field

Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of dimensional inspection duties relating to overhaul and repair of engines or components.
Perform dimensional checks using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
Work with a variety of precision measurement gages; height gage, micrometer, calipers and optical comparator.
Work from general instructions and specifications such as drawings, service bulletins, repair requests, overhaul manuals, and other technical publications.
Interpret complex blueprint drawings and work with engineering when measuring complicated component configurations.
Ability to read, understand measurement and tolerances.
Use Geometric Dimensional Tolerance (PWA360) when measuring crucial fits and clearances.
Must be able to provide component dimensions, visual and dimensional inspection of a variety of engine components to determine serviceability, and conformance to overhaul / repair manual specifications.
