About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant provides a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of a physician, physician extender, or registered nurse, following established guidelines and standards. Duty assignments vary and may include front-office and back-office functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of a Nursing Assistant program, or, in lieu of formal education, two years of medical assistant or related clinical experience.
• One year of experience in a medical office setting with completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program, or, in lieu of a degree or certification from a Medical/Nursing Assistant program, two years of medical assistant or related clinical experience.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a similarly recognized certifying organization, required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification, required upon hire.
