The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for the preparation and administration of medications to residents. This role involves documenting residents' conditions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and requires strong communication skills. The CMA works primarily in a healthcare community environment, which may involve limited exposure to infectious conditions. The position requires the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to oneself or others. Tasks may involve exposure to blood or body fluids, or could result in performing tasks that involve such exposure. The CMA must be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds, lift up to 40 pounds, and work under stressful conditions to meet resident and family needs and deadlines. The role also involves promoting resident independence and well-being, performing daily care according to care plans, monitoring supplies and prescriptions, and maintaining a safe and tidy environment.
