About The Position

PHD is seeking a skilled CMA Cell employee to machine, assemble, and test high-quality automation products at our Fort Wayne, Indiana, manufacturing facility. This position requires proficiency in machining equipment, precision measuring instruments, blueprint interpretation, and product assembly. The ideal candidate is committed to safety, continuous learning, and producing quality products that meet PHD's high standards. This position is currently scheduled for 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with future shift assignments subject to the seniority provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. PHD offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, multiple paid time off (PTO) programs, and a 401(k) plan with company match. This position also provides a defined wage progression, with multiple pay increases available during the first 18 months based on successful completion of required certifications. Upon completion of all required training, employees currently earn $28.31 per hour, followed by 2% annual contractual wage increases each October through 2028.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of inventory applicable to the role.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing procedures and work instructions.
  • Good mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to pass the company pre-employment math assessment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Ability to make proper dimensional and material determinations using engineering documentation.
  • Ability to set appropriate machine feeds and speeds when required.
  • Ability to machine parts to print specifications.
  • Ability to deburr machined parts.
  • Ability to change tooling on assigned machines.
  • Ability to assemble and test products assigned to the CMA cell.
  • Ability to access and utilize job-related databases using a computer.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Commitment to practicing safe work habits and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must pass the company math test with a score of 80% or higher.
  • Must meet one or more of the following prerequisites: Fully certified in any PHD Machining Cell. Two (2) years of CNC lathe or mill experience outside of PHD. Technical degree in machining or an equivalent degree. Completion of a machining trade or vocational school program.

Responsibilities

  • Machine a variety of PHD components by safely operating assigned equipment, selecting appropriate tooling, setting feeds and speeds when required, and producing parts that meet engineering specifications.
  • Assemble and test products assigned to the CMA Department while following documented work instructions and quality requirements.
  • Successfully obtain and maintain company-required certifications for assigned machinery and assembly areas, including PFH 4800s, BND, CMA Assembly, Versa-Cut, and Mori SL154-2 equipment.
  • Produce components that meet blueprint and documentation requirements by utilizing precision measuring instruments, making accurate dimensional and material determinations, deburring machined parts, and verifying finished products meet quality standards.
  • Change tooling as required, properly operate assigned machinery, and ensure equipment is used efficiently while maintaining acceptable tool life when specifications are not already established.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, manufacturing documentation, and work instructions to accurately manufacture and assemble products according to specifications.
  • Utilize inventory knowledge and production procedures to support efficient workflow while accessing job-related databases using company computer systems.
  • Practice safe work habits, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), maintain a clean and organized work area, and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
