About The Position

Medical Assistants/LPNs work collaboratively as an active member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care across the continuum. They also provide an excellent patient experience, high-quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team. This position is based in Brevard, North Carolina.

Requirements

Certification as a Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT.
NHA candidates must have completed a one (1) to two (2) year diploma or degree program or have two (2) years of prior clinical experience.
LPN licensure
Current CPR certification
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.
Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record.
Phlebotomy experience for patients of all ages.

Nice To Haves

Spanish speaking skills preferred.
One (1) to two (2) years of medical assisting experience in a primary care ambulatory setting preferred

Responsibilities

Participate in daily huddles with patient care team(s)
Prepare patient charts for providers
Review patient registries and identify preventative care due for patient
Assist in preventive care outreach initiatives
Obtain vitals
Assist in obtaining medical records
Perform screening procedures as indicated
Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during exams
Prepare sterile fields
Perform phlebotomy and process specimens
Prepare and administer medications and vaccines, including intramuscular and intradermal injections as directed by provider
Serve as a preceptor for new staff
Provide occasional coverage support for other MAHEC ambulatory offices
Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls
Participates in process improvement of new and existing workflows
Actively embraces and supports divisional and organizational quality initiatives
Supports pop-up vaccine and testing community events
