About The Position

The Clyde Operator is responsible for operating both Clyde and Washington cranes safely and professionally. This role requires maintaining exceptional control of the crane and the load being lifted, as well as learning the names and locations of parts being handled. The position is in a production environment around traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery and trip hazards. Personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection are required. This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes. Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment. The role may require working overtime, including some weekend days, and working at heights on scaffolding and ladders, in dim-lit areas, on slippery or uneven surfaces. The operator may also work in confined spaces and move through manway and tank openings.

Requirements

  • Must learn to inspect and safely operate all four Gunderson portal gantry cranes
  • Must follow radio commands explicitly
  • Manual dexterity and good depth perception are a must
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong worth ethic, flexible, reliable, and punctual
  • 2 years minimum Clyde crane rigging experience
  • Clyde crane operating experience

Nice To Haves

  • Current overhead/remote/rigger certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe operation and control of the crane and loads being handled
  • Report safety concerns in a timely manner
  • Fill orders for steel
  • Inspect crane and cab, complete inspection form
  • Trained to read and understand the load charts for the cranes
