About The Position

Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of Clubhouse Services, the Clubhouse Director is in charge at the Tenderloin Clubhouse and is expected to provide high-level leadership and oversight. The Clubhouse Director is ultimately responsible for management of the team, program delivery and outcome measurement, strategic partnerships, risk management and fiscal management. The Clubhouse Director provides vision, leadership and execution of BGCSF’s strategic plan goals. The Clubhouse Director is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong Clubhouse culture (positive, aspirational, safe, and developmental), with staff, youth members, families and external partners. This position is full-time supporting the Tenderloin Clubhouse per the job posting. This position is benefits eligible.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of experience in a leadership capacity at a human services or education-related organization, with proven success in staff management, operations and community relations
  • Thorough understanding of nonprofits and specifically youth development organizations, including an understanding of inherent risks and best practices for risk management, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, manage, lead, and motivate a team.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making,and delegation.
  • An innate desire to analyze data and use it to drive decision-making and recommendations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of facility and asset management.
  • Red Cross/CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively
  • Must be able to stoop and crouch
  • Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • CLUB OVERSIGHT & LEADERSHIP (45%)
  • Develop and reinforce a Club culture that embodies Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s values and high standards within the Clubhouse and in the community.
  • Adherence to BGCSF risk management procedures, including ensuring that the Clubhouse is adhering to organizational safety protocols and expectations, facility and vehicle maintenance, and overall cleanliness of the facility.
  • Ensure the Clubhouse has a strong focus on safety and providing outstanding programs and services to young people every day.
  • Directly supervise the Assistant Clubhouse Director and 2-3 direct service staff.
  • Provide growth and development opportunities, in collaboration with the Assistant Clubhouse Director and BGCSF’s Director of Learning and Development, through effective team meetings, staff retreats, and supervision meetings.
  • Ensure that all staff’s Management by Objective (MBO) goals are in line with the organization’s strategic plan, and are being tracked for successful completion.
  • Interaction with the Club’s data on a daily basis to ensure that the Club is on track to meet its enrollment, attendance, total and program goals; and in the event that it is not, strategizing with other BGCSF support staff to develop a success plan.
  • Attend and support larger Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco special events (Board Celebrations, Youth of the Year event, Gala, etc.)
  • Ensure the Clubhouse has a strong positive behavior model and approach to youth development, engaging families as needed.
  • Provide leadership when there is violence in the community and/or an escalated incident at the Club.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the Club’s 360-degree evaluation process (i.e. parent surveys, youth evaluations and self-evaluations from staff team) for the Clubhouse to assess youth development practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Clubhouse staff, senior leadership, parents, youth, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS & COLLABORATIONS (30%)
  • Responsible for the successful development and execution of program, community, and school partnerships.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of the Club’s volunteer hours and that all Club volunteer opportunities are high-quality, meaningful experiences.
  • Development and execution of facility use agreements and MOUs for the Club.
  • Develop, assess, and maintain Clubhouse partnerships that lead to increased average daily attendance, deepening and/or diversity of programs, and/or an increase in capacity through effective use of partner agencies or volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Police Captain, partner schools administrators (i.e. Principals, Vice Principals, School Liaisons, Social workers) and local community-based organizations.
  • FINANCE & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (25%)
  • Develop and manage the Clubhouse and work with BGCSF’s Finance Department to minimize overage and ensure collection of earned income.
  • Ensure that the Club’s revenue and Camp fundraising goals are met.
  • Serve as an active partner with the Development and Institutional Giving departments by assisting in grant writing to generate new grants, reporting out on the outcomes of existing grants, leading donor tours, etc.
