About The Position

Sacred Heart University is seeking a Head Coach for its Men's Lacrosse Club Sports team. This part-time position is responsible for recruiting and retaining players, preparing practices, providing game-day coaching, and handling administrative duties for the team. The role operates from September 1 through May 15 each academic year. Sacred Heart University is a large Catholic university known for its academic excellence and diverse programs, committed to preparing students for meaningful careers and lifelong success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the high school, prep, junior, or collegiate level.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends as the vast majority of games are Friday-Sunday.
  • Possess experience working with diverse staff, including college-age students.
  • Must maintain coaching certification or be willing to acquire certification.
  • Must be lawfully authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit prospective students who meet University admission standards.
  • Handle all league-required paperwork and understand associated rules.
  • Foster and enhance relationships with other coaches.
  • Ensure the retention of all team members, particularly first-year students, and facilitate their transition into college.
  • Collaborate with Club Sports staff to develop a cohesive program and promote it via social media and the Club Sports website.
  • Develop a recruitment plan extending beyond the upcoming season.
  • Create and implement a weekly practice plan to ensure team members are prepared for competition.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Prepare, plan, and coordinate weekly practice schedules and provide high-quality instruction to student-athletes.
  • Work with the Athletic Training staff and Strength and Conditioning staff on player safety and development.
  • Oversee all game day responsibilities, including game planning, transportation, and game roster.
  • Work closely with the Director of Club Sports and Intramurals on season preparation, scheduling, and recruitment.
  • Manage coaching staff and student staff as hired by the department.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the league.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
