About The Position

Quinnipiac University Club Women's Rugby is seeking a part-time coach with an ambitious attitude to help develop the QU Club Sports Program in Rugby. Coaches will have the opportunity to build a competitive program, with assistance from student leadership for tasks like budget management and scheduling. Key coaching duties include roster and lineup management, practice and competition guidance, injury prevention, and academic support. A primary goal is ensuring student-athletes graduate from QU. This is a part-time, non-benefit-eligible position. The QU Club Sports Mission is to provide structured sport activities that may be competitive, recreational, or instructional, filling needs not met by varsity, intramural, or other recreational programs. It aims to offer valuable learning experiences through student involvement in fundraising, public relations, organization, administration, budgeting, leadership, teaching, and scheduling, in addition to athletic skill development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certification, or ability to obtain with USA Rugby
  • CPR/First-Aid Certification or ability to obtain
  • Prior coaching experience at either the collegiate or high school level
  • Prior experience specifically with Club Sports
  • Prior experience in Rugby (playing, coaching, etc)
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work nights and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Instructing club athletes in Rugby at practices and games
  • Assisting Captains and Executive Board in constructing a fair and balanced tryout to, if necessary, select a team roster
  • Compliance with USA Rugby, NCR, and Title IX guidelines.
  • Dialogue frequently with the Club Sports Administrators in regard to travel, roster, and other team needs including occasional meetings with Administrators at Quinnipiac University.
  • Presence at all or most Club Practices, Meetings, Games, Matches, and/or Tournaments
  • Attend Annual Club Sports Coaches Training with Recreation Staff
  • Cooperation with student leadership on any additional event as preferred or necessary
  • Chaperoning at trips, including overnight stay, and enforcement of conduct policies
  • Other tasks as deemed fit by Club Women’s Rugby student leadership or constitution
