Club Manager - Glasgow

Pure Padel UKGlasgow, IL
£34,000 - £38,000Onsite

About The Position

Pure Padel is a rapidly growing padel club operator dedicated to delivering outstanding facilities and a genuinely welcoming, community driven experience. With ambitious plans to open 30 clubs across the UK in the next five years, our venues are designed to be more than just places to play. They are vibrant social hubs where hospitality, sport and community come together. As Club Manager, you own your club: its performance, its people and its community. You are accountable for the club's commercial results (total revenue against budget, court occupancy and ancillary sales), for building a loyal and active community of players, and for leading a small, close team to deliver a genuinely welcoming experience every day. You will run the operation to the highest standards of safety and service, act as the club's Designated Safeguarding Lead, and grow the club as Pure Padel expands. This is a role for a hands on leader who can build a community, drive the numbers and develop the people around them.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in hospitality and leisure.
  • Proven ability to build community and grow loyal, repeat custom.
  • Commercial acumen: managing revenue lines, controlling costs and working to budget.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, able to motivate and develop a small team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with players, staff and external partners.
  • Confident, commercially minded seller focused on maximising revenue.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, able to multitask and prioritise.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety and a commitment to a safe, compliant club.
  • Willingness to act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and complete the required training.

Nice To Haves

  • Retail management experience.
  • Food and beverage experience.
  • Experience coordinating events, tournaments or community sports programmes.
  • Familiarity with booking and operations platforms such as Playtomic.
  • Experience managing P&L, budgets or financial reporting.
  • A passion for padel or racket sports.

Responsibilities

  • Own the club's P&L, delivering total revenue against budget through effective cost control and revenue generation.
  • Drive court occupancy and utilisation, the club's primary revenue line, using Playtomic data, proactive outreach to players and local businesses, and smart scheduling.
  • Grow ancillary revenue across the shop (rackets, balls, accessories, racket hire) and café (food and beverage), including week on week growth in rackets sold.
  • Analyse performance data and act to hit targets across every revenue line.
  • Understand the dynamics of your local padel community and shape the club's academy, tournament and socials strategy as you see fit, to grow participation, loyalty and occupancy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and hospitality at every touchpoint, from the front desk to the café and the court.
  • Grow a loyal, active community of players who stay, play regularly, attend socials and bring others with them.
  • Introduce and grow club memberships as part of building long term loyalty.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for all players, members and guests, and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Plan and deliver a full programme of padel socials, tournaments, leagues and community events that drive participation and occupancy.
  • Programme and coordinate the club's Academy sessions (intro to padel, beginner and intermediate socials, coached sessions and match play), working with freelance coaching partners and holding them to Pure Padel's standards.
  • Handle corporate bookings, private events and special tournaments, working with the Marketing team as needed.
  • Build relationships with local schools, businesses and community organisations to drive participation.
  • Oversee café, bar and pro shop operations for quality, presentation and consistent revenue growth.
  • Manage stock, suppliers and inventory (rackets, balls, accessories, food and beverage), keeping the shop well stocked and organised.
  • Train and motivate the team to upsell across retail, equipment, food and drink.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a small, strong team, promoting from within as Pure Padel grows.
  • Build rotas that match business needs and demand across operating hours.
  • Onboard, train and support the Assistant Club Manager, Supervisor and Front of House team, giving clear direction and development.
  • Build an engaged, motivated team environment.
  • Act as the club's Designated Safeguarding Lead: understand and apply Pure Padel's safeguarding policy, be the first point of escalation at the club, and complete all required safeguarding training.
  • Work with the company Designated Safeguarding Lead on any concerns.
  • Keep health and safety, compliance and risk assessments up to date and consistently applied.
  • Oversee site maintenance, cleaning, refuse and court upkeep for a clean, safe, well presented club.
  • Conduct regular health and safety inspections and act on issues, and liaise with site suppliers.
  • Work with the Marketing team to raise local visibility and court sales through social media and brand aligned campaigns.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by senior management, and work flexibly across operating hours (6am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday) to meet business needs.

Benefits

  • Salary £34,000 to £38,000 depending on experience.
  • Discounted padel.
  • Discount on food and beverage.
  • A genuine progression path. Grow with us from Front of House to Supervisor, Assistant Club Manager, Club Manager and on to Area Manager. We are growing fast and we promote from within.
  • The chance to help shape our culture and values as the business grows.
