About The Position

The CLS Microbiologist plays a critical role in advancing microbiological research and analysis through the use of confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). This per diem variable position focuses on the detailed examination and characterization of microbial communities, biofilms, and cellular structures to support scientific studies and product development. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experiments, analyzing complex data sets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to interpret findings. Their work will directly contribute to improving understanding of microbial behavior and interactions in various environments, ultimately influencing innovation and quality control. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, precision, and the ability to communicate complex scientific information effectively to diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with confocal laser scanning microscopy or similar advanced imaging technologies.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological techniques, including sample preparation and staining methods.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software relevant to microscopy imaging (e.g., ImageJ, Imaris).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document and present scientific findings.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or higher in Microbiology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with biofilms and microbial community analysis.
  • Familiarity with fluorescence labeling techniques and advanced microscopy modalities.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental design in microbiological research.
  • Previous experience in a regulated laboratory environment such as pharmaceutical or environmental testing.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain confocal laser scanning microscopy equipment to capture high-resolution images of microbial samples.
  • Prepare and process biological specimens, including staining and labeling, to optimize visualization under CLSM.
  • Design and conduct experiments to investigate microbial structures, biofilm formation, and cellular interactions.
  • Analyze and interpret microscopy data using specialized software, generating detailed reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with research scientists, quality assurance, and product development teams to integrate microbiological insights into projects.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results.
  • Stay current with advancements in microscopy techniques and microbiological research to continuously improve methodologies.
