About The Position

The Cloud Technical Lead position is located in San Diego, CA, and works on-site daily within the Infectious Diseases Division of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics. This role focuses on enhancing a SaaS cloud platform to improve global health outcomes. Responsibilities include coordinating issue resolutions, mentoring junior engineers on cloud platforms, contributing to product improvements, designing and implementing cloud-based services, and providing technical expertise to shape solutions while staying updated on emerging trends for innovation. Key qualities for success include leadership, versatility, continuous learning, and a strong passion for software engineering. The role involves developing system-level design documentation and requirements specifications in collaboration with various stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AD\Entra ID or similar identity platforms such as Okta\Identity Serve and etc.
• Experience with CI/CD technologies such as Azure DevOps\Jenkins.
• Experience with REST API’s technologies such as FastAPI\ASP.NET Core Web API.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services such as Power BI; Azure Synapse; Kubernetes service, App Service, Azure Function, App Gateway, Azure Blob Storage, Log Analytics, Azure Key Vault, Azure Data Factory, API Gateway, Event Hub.
• Experience working within a Linux environment.
• Familiarity with data design and database technologies such as SQL Server, Azure Synapse or similar.
• Minimum 10 years of experience, or master’s degree with 7+ years of related experience, or Ph.D. with 2+ years of related experience.

• Preferred team leadership experience of at least 1 year and demonstrated mentorship capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership support in use case analysis, feature definition, user needs and functional and non-functional requirements.
• Act as the first line of defense in coordinating and prioritizing timely resolutions with engineering and solution engineering teams.
• Communicate product issues to development and advocate for the customer.
• Create knowledge-based content such as troubleshooting articles and best practices.
• Provide continuous ideas to improve our product.
• Bring solutions to the leadership team and provide feedback on recommended solutions.
• Learn and improve existing healthcare platforms.
• Design and implement services and components utilizing cloud-based platforms.
• Develop high-volume, low-latency services for a global healthcare platform.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate with APIs that empower users to share and utilize their medical data in partner systems.
• Design and implement unit testable code that is highly maintainable.
• Collaborate directly with InfoSec to design and implement secure solutions.
• Collaborate with both internal and external team members to shape and define API contracts.
• Provide new ideas and insight in collaboration with the data services team.
• Ensure performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design.
• Contribute to significant architectural and operational decisions in collaboration with the Architecture team.
• Build out internal tooling and APIs to make business and engineering processes easier, faster, and safer.
• Implement systemic changes to align existing systems with current architectural goals.
• Create diagrams, flowcharts, and models that illustrate the internal design and workflow of solution components.
• Collaborate as an engaged member of an agile team, realizing features through development, test, and delivery.
• Engage in technical planning, design, and code reviews, including peer code review of Pull Requests.
• Lead effort estimation by working with development, testing, cybersecurity, and quality to provide technical implementation assumptions for requested features.
• Stay current with emerging trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate.
• Support company initiatives and comply with regulatory requirements by FDA and other relevant global regulatory agencies.
• Gather and help determine engineering estimates.
• Coordinate with project management and functional management to translate engineering estimates into project plans.
• Define different needed integration points and dependencies to help drive integrated project plans.
