About The Position

Cardinal Technology Systems Corp. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to work for our company. This role involves designing, optimizing, and enhancing cloud-based architectures to support operational requirements, creating scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions, and leading the migration of on-prem capabilities into the AWS cloud. The architect will customize capabilities, develop automation frameworks, create infrastructure-as-code templates, ensure architecture supports rapid reconfiguration, implement security controls, collaborate with DevOps engineers, evaluate new cloud services, conduct architecture reviews, and support troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • 5+ years of experience designing cloud architectures, preferably on AWS.
  • 8+ years of directly relevant experience.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
  • Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
  • Experience designing solutions for cybersecurity or incident response operations.
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with Splunk.
  • Experience migrating on-prem legacy systems to a cloud environment.
  • Experience with Azure and Entra.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
  • Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST).
  • Background in system administration or DevOps.

Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, and enhance cloud-based architectures to support ESS operational requirements.
  • Create scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that enable rapid deployment and customization of engagement infrastructure across diverse mission scenarios.
  • Lead planning and implementation for migration of on-prem capabilities into the AWS cloud.
  • Customize capabilities to align with engagement scope, technical, and operational parameters.
  • Develop automation frameworks to streamline provisioning and deployment processes.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code templates and documentation.
  • Ensure architecture supports rapid reconfiguration for dynamic mission needs.
  • Implement security controls including encryption, namespace obfuscation, and hardened configurations.
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to improve operational capabilities.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to implementation teams.
  • Support troubleshooting of complex architectural issues during active operations.
