About The Position

This role is for a Remote/Local Cloud Solution Architect with experience in AWS, Azure, GIS, and agile/scrum/SAFe methodologies. The position is located in Richmond, VA (VDOT) and is for a duration of 12 months, with a possibility of extension for 6-12+ months beyond June 30, 2023. Local candidates are strongly preferred, and the candidate must be able to come to Richmond, VA to pick up a laptop. The architect will be responsible for creating overall application and solution architectures, component designs, and systems integration and implementations for specific business solutions. This includes leading efforts in defining, documenting, and estimating for enterprise applications, capturing requirements for various aspects of system design, and collaborating with IT staff to translate business needs into automated solutions. The role also involves producing solution design artifacts, coordinating new system development, analyzing feasibility, and consulting with clients on application design. Collaboration with Business areas and Enterprise Architects is key to understanding business needs and providing strategic consultation, as well as partnering with technical teams to develop roadmaps and strategies. The architect will also design/implement Enterprise Security/technology Patterns and provide architecture considerations on legacy solutions.

Requirements

• Experience in enterprise-level application design and integration Required 5 Years
• Experience in cloud application (Azure/AWS) /GIS architecture Required 5 Years
• Experience in SaaS (Software as a Service) architecture Required 5 Years
• Experience with integration architecture and proven work experience with Agile/Scrum teams Required 5 Years
• Experience with SAFe architecture and proven work experience with Agile/Scrum teams.
• Proven experience in developing enterprise and solution level architectural designs.
• Proven experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional applications between disparate business units and systems.
• Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data mapping.
• Knowledge of relational database design and management techniques.
• Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
• Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
• Competency with XML constructs and schemas.
• Confidence and experience with API protocols and schemas such as SOAP and REST.
• Strong understanding of end-user needs and requirements.
• Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Create overall application and solution architectures, component designs, and systems integration and implementations for a particular business solution.
• Lead efforts in defining, documenting and estimating the following for enterprise applications.
• Capture requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, on- prem, hybrid and cloud topologies, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, system inputs and output.
• Collaborate with other IT staff to assess business needs and requirements and translate them into automated solutions.
• Produce relevant solution design artifacts including but not limited to technical estimates, conceptual, logical and physical system designs, sequence diagrams, and data models.
• Coordinate new system development to ensure it is consistent and well integrated with existing application systems and COTS solutions.
• Analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other programs; and will consult with clients to prototype, architect, and design applications to meet needs.
• Collaborate with Business areas and cross-functional Enterprise Architects to fully understand business needs and provide strategic consultation.
• Partner with architects, other technical team members and to develop roadmaps and strategies to support agency KPIs.
• Design/Implement Enterprise Security/technology Patterns.
• Consult with teams as needed on initiatives and provide tactical direction as well as provide architecture considerations on legacy solutions.
