Cloud Software Engineer
About The Position
Visionist is hiring a Cloud Software Engineer for a fully funded opportunity supporting customer big data processing platforms. The role supports a critical mission system whose analytics enable analysts to use agency data for mission-critical reporting and decision-making. The engineer will work with modern technologies and methodologies for processing large volumes of data and producing actionable results. The position offers the opportunity to telework up to 8 hours per week. The engineer will develop and maintain a full-stack web application using Kotlin and React, support a mission system with hundreds of active users, and rapidly develop and deploy patches and updates to an existing system. The work is performed in an agile team that regularly communicates with analysts and may span requirements gathering, design, and deployment. An active Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph is required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens; green card holders and permanent residents are not eligible. Selected applicants must obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph.

- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or an additional two years of experience in lieu of the degree.
- Six years of software development experience.
- Experience with Kotlin, Java, and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including MongoDB and SQL.
- Experience with React and Redux.
- Experience with Apache Flink.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Familiarity with agency data flow formats and standards.
- Interest in working on an agile team that communicates regularly with analysts, and willingness to take on tasks from requirements gathering and design through deployment.
Nice To Haves
- Willingness to obtain one of the listed certifications; Visionist will pay for the exam and study time if selected: AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Machine Learning – Associate, AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
