About The Position

Wyetech is seeking an experienced Cloud Software Engineer – Level 3 to support the Data Warehouse Platforms Engineering Shared Services & Software Development (DWSV) team within a large, complex product development environment. This position supports all aspects of Agile software design and development for products deployed across large-scale compute clusters. The selected candidate will play a key role in designing and building new capabilities, conducting testing, optimizing system performance, and supporting ongoing operations and sustainment. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in Java development, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and software integration, with the ability to work independently across the full software development lifecycle while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in software development and engineering , including requirements analysis, software design, development, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field , such as Mathematics, Information Systems, or Engineering.
At least six (6) years of experience developing software using high-level programming languages , such as Java, C, or C++.
At least five (5) years of experience working with UNIX/Linux environments , including Red Hat-based systems.
At least three (3) years of experience in software integration and testing , including developing and implementing test plans and test scripts.
Strong Java development experience, including distributed systems, networking, and multithreading.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet .
Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines , including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
Experience working in Agile software development environments using modern source control practices.
Strong Linux fundamentals and proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl .
Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes .
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker .
Demonstrated experience developing software for distributed computing environments.
Experience working with open-source NoSQL technologies supporting distributed data processing, such as HBase, Accumulo, or Bigtable .
Familiarity with Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, and HDFS technologies.
Experience developing RESTful services and working with serialization formats such as JSON or BSON.
Experience analyzing requirements and designing object-oriented software systems.
Demonstrated technical writing skills and experience preparing software engineering documentation.
Hadoop Developer, Cloud Developer, or comparable Cloud System/Service certification is required.
Willingness to participate in a rotating Tier III on-call schedule .
Ability to support surge requirements during high-priority mission situations.
Ability to work primarily onsite at the customer location, with limited and situational telework availability.
United States Citizenship and position-appropriate security clearance are required.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting large-scale distributed systems.
Perform requirements analysis, software design, development, installation, integration, evaluation, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.
Design and implement scalable solutions, including the integration and extension of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and open-source software products.
Develop and maintain applications using Java and other high-level programming languages.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues while optimizing system performance, reliability, and scalability.

Evaluate and improve application performance, availability, and scalability across distributed environments.
Develop and execute software test cases, test plans, and automated test scripts.
Perform software integration, system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
Apply modern source control practices and Agile software development methodologies.
Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve integration issues.
Support software sustainment, enhancements, and operational maintenance.

Support operational readiness and participate in issue resolution during high-priority mission situations.
Conduct software research, development, and engineering activities throughout the complete software development lifecycle.
Support installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue resolution for cloud software systems.
Apply distributed data processing technologies and architectures to improve software performance and scalability.
Support object-oriented design, software integration, and application modernization.
Develop and deploy software capabilities using open-source and commercial technologies.
Create and maintain technical documentation supporting software development and sustainment.
Support the development of automated analytics and data processing capabilities.
Collaborate with technical stakeholders to evaluate requirements, identify risks, and recommend engineering solutions.
