Cloud Software Developer 3

Lentech•Annapolis Junction, MD

About The Position

The Cloud Software Developer develops, maintains, and enhances complex Big-Data cloud systems based on documented requirements. The role contributes to back-end processing, analysis, and indexing, and applies expertise in cloud computing, the Hadoop ecosystem, Java applications, distributed computing, information retrieval, and object-oriented design. The developer may work independently or as part of a team; reviews and tests software components against design requirements; documents test results; resolves software problem reports; and uses software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment. The position provides input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS products in place of new development, and analysis and synthesis of requirements from the system level to individual software components. Work also involves cloud architecture, implementation and management of multi-node installations, debugging distributed frameworks, information assurance, SIGINT-related systems and dataflows, and configuration management. An active and current TS/SCI with FSP through NSA is required. A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline is required, with stated substitutions for relevant experience, a master's degree, and Cloudera certification. The stated salary range is $215,731 to $230,393.

Requirements

  • Active and current TS/SCI with FSP through NSA.
  • Twelve years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Two years of cloud and/or distributed computing information retrieval experience.
  • One year implementing code that interacts with a Cloud Big Table implementation.
  • One year implementing code that interacts with a Cloud Distributed File System implementation.
  • One year implementing complex MapReduce analytics.
  • One year implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
  • One year architecting cloud computing solutions.
  • One year debugging problems with cloud-based distributed computing frameworks.
  • One year managing multi-node cloud-based installations.
  • Experience with utility computing, network management, virtualization (VMware or VirtualBox), and cloud computing.
  • Experience managing and installing cloud and distributed computing across multiple nodes, using Python, CFEngine, Bash, Ruby, or related technologies.
  • Experience securing cloud-based and distributed applications using techniques such as firewalls, PKI certificates, server authentication, and corporate authentication services.
  • Experience with object-oriented design and programming, Java, Eclipse or a similar development environment, Maven, and RESTful web services.
  • Experience with one or more applicable cloud and distributed computing technologies, including YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, ZooKeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, concurrent programming, or multi-node implementation and installation.
  • Experience with cloud and distributed computing information retrieval technologies such as HDFS, HBase, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, or MongoDB.
  • Experience ingesting, parsing, and analyzing disparate data sources and formats, including XML, JSON, CSV, binary formats, sequence or map files, and Avro.
  • Experience with aspect-oriented design and development.
  • Experience debugging and profiling cloud and distributed installations, including JVM memory management and Java application profiling.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux and CentOS.
  • Experience in at least one SIGINT collection discipline area: FORNSAT, cable, terrestrial/microwave, overhead, or ELINT.
  • Experience with geolocation, emitter identification, and signal applications.
  • Experience with joint program collection platforms and dataflow architectures, and signals characterization analysis.
  • Experience with CentOS and Linux/RedHat.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Subversion, ClearQuest, or Razor.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, including four years in programs using Big-Data cloud technologies and/or distributed computing. Four years of cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar Big-Data systems may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
  • A master's degree in computer science or a related discipline may substitute for two years of experience.

Nice To Haves
