About The Position

As a Cloud Software Architect on Rockwell Automation's Automation Control Software, you will help shape the cloud infrastructure and architectural direction of our next-generation design product for industrial control systems. This role is critical in ensuring our cloud-based solutions are scalable, performant, cost-effective, and developer-friendly. You will create architectural decisions that promote rapid product development while meeting architectural goals. You'll be one of the go-to experts to provide cloud architecture guidance to domain experts and provide oversight for projects across broad product space. You will take a leading role for projects in the program and will work with product management to refine requirements. You will collaborate with architect peers and globally distributed development teams to deliver high-level designs and infrastructure guidance. As an architect, you will also mentor other architects and developers, contributing to the development of a highly performing team. As an individual contributor, you will report to the Sr Manager, Software Engineering and join a collaborative architecture team that spans multiple technology and product domains.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.

Nice To Haves

Typically requires 8+ years of experience in software development.
3+ years in a software architecture role(s).
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Expertise in cloud architecture, with a preference for Microsoft Azure.
Experience designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
Experience working on large-scale, industrial or enterprise-grade software systems.
Experiene leading Architectural projects and influence cross-functional teams.
Power user of generative AI tools with experience using them to accelerate design and development.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.

Responsibilities

Define and guide the cloud architecture strategy for the platform, based on Microsoft Azure.
Collaborate with architecture peers to ensure understanding across domains and provide clear, applicable guidance to development teams.
Evaluate and improve cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, scalability, and developer experience.
Champion the use of generative AI to enhance architectural design and development workflows.
Communicate architectural decisions, balancing technical thoughtfulness with the need for efficient execution.
