About The Position

IT Cloud Security Specialist supports JCCC’s mission by designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud security controls to protect JCCC’s environments. Responsibilities include monitoring security events, managing identity and access, conducting vulnerability assessments, supporting audits, and responding to incidents. The incumbent collaborates with campus teams to ensure secure cloud adoption and documents procedures to improve consistency and reduce risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in information security, cloud security operations, or related technical security roles.
  • Experience administering or securing cloud platforms (AWS preferred), with familiarity across multiple cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of security principles, identity and access management, incident response, network protocols, and secure configuration baselines.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the planning and design of Enterprise Security architecture.
  • Implements, and maintains security controls and configurations for cloud environments to enhance JCCC’s cloud security posture.
  • Monitors cloud security events, analyzes logs, and supports incident response activities to identify, investigate, and resolve security threats.
  • Administers and evaluates identity and access management practices across cloud platforms to ensure secure, least privileged access.
  • Conducts vulnerability assessments and participates in security audits to maintain compliance with institutional governance and industry standards.
  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders and IS teams to support secure cloud adoption, aligning work with IS values of trust, accountability, and engagement.
  • Documents cloud security procedures and contributes to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen operational consistency and risk mitigation.
